According to Tech-On, Samsung Electronics Company is developing a micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) shutter for miniature digital cameras. Probably, the camera modules with such a closure can be used in mobile phones. The closure of a new type can be used with high-resolution sensors. According to Samsung, the new MEMS shutter will solve the problems associated with rapid transfer of image data, which it can lead to blurry frames or distortion when shooting moving objects.
Now, Samsung has already been testing a new technology. The diameter of the closure is 2.2 mm, it includes a transparent conductive material is placed on a glass substrate. A conductive layer is indium oxide and tin (indium tin oxide, ITO), on top of glass substrate film. It consists of 36 parts in the form of blades, placed in a circle at an angle of 10 degrees. In time, the applied voltage of 30 volts is electrostatic force, which affects shutter film, as a result it is blocking the light. Samsung notes that at the moment the technology is imperfect, and to solve several problems. Perhaps, in more detail the new technology of MEMS shutter will be disclosed closer to the end of the year. The art will be established when mass production and sale of such solutions, Samsung is not telling.
