微機電與感測器的全球商機及技術革新

Qualtré Inc.

Qualtré brings an array of design and process innovations to inertial sensing. The company has exclusively licensed most of its technology from Georgia Tech. Qualtré's inertial sensor designs are based on either "tuning fork" technology, where Qualtré's licensed design improvements have achieved record sensitivities and "Quality Factors," or on "bulk acoustic wave (BAW)" technology, a unique new platform for inertial sensors. While Qualtré has applied these two technology families to both accelerometers and gyroscopes, it is in the gyroscope arena where Qualtré's innovations bring the most value.

Qualtré¹s BAW gyroscopes are ten times smaller than existing MEMS inertial sensors. Furthermore, they are essentially solid-state devices, with dramatically improved environmental tolerance and reliability. The devices do not need costly high vacuum packaging, and can be integrated with CMOS circuitry and other sensors. The company¹s competitors use larger, non-silicon, and/or high-vacuum-requirement sensors that are not able to meet the needs of high performance applications, like short-range navigation, at price points compatible with the CE market.

Qualtré¹s tuning fork sensors are very high Q (or Quality Factor) devices which have demonstrated record sensitivity for MEMS gyroscopes. These devices are appropriate for many military, automotive, and medical applications. Qualtré seeks partners in these industries to co-develop products tailored for specific applications.
